Location: Mobberley, Cheshire
Service: Build over drain survey
Overview
We were instructed by a local construction firm, to carry out a post-build drainage survey following the construction of a new residential property in Mobberley, Cheshire.
The survey was undertaken as part of the final completion process to assess the condition and performance of the newly installed drainage network.
What we did
We carried out a comprehensive post-build CCTV drainage survey of the newly installed drainage network serving the residential property in Mobberley, Cheshire. The inspection focused on assessing the condition, connectivity and overall performance of the drainage infrastructure following completion of the construction works.
Our detailed report included:
A full condition assessment of the drainage system, identifying any defects, installation issues, or areas requiring attention
High-definition CCTV imagery and video footage captured throughout the survey to support our findings
An annotated drainage layout plan showing the surveyed network and key inspection locations across the site
A summary of key findings, observations, and recommendations to support final sign-off and client handover
The completed survey provided the construction company with clear documentation confirming the drainage system was functioning correctly and installed to an acceptable standard following construction.
What we found
We successfully completed the full site drainage survey within a short timeframe to support the construction programme and final handover schedule. Overall, the newly installed drainage network was found to be in good working condition, with the majority of the system flowing correctly and operating as intended.
During the inspection, we identified a small number of items requiring attention prior to final sign-off. This included:
A fractured section of pipework which appeared to have sustained damage during the construction phase and would require remedial repair; and
Several manholes located within the rear patio area had been sealed, preventing direct chamber access for future inspection and maintenance. Although we were still able to survey these sections remotely from alternative access points, we recommended that suitable access arrangements be considered to support ongoing maintenance of the drainage system in the future.
Outcome
Following completion of the survey, we worked to resolve the issues identified during the inspection. A structural patch liner was installed to repair the fractured section of pipework, restoring the integrity of the drainage system without the need for excavation. We also highlighted the restricted access to the sealed manholes within the rear patio area, allowing the construction team to address the issue and ensure suitable access was maintained for future inspection and maintenance requirements.
With the remedial works completed, the drainage network was confirmed to be in satisfactory condition, supporting final project sign-off and successful handover of the property to the client.
